Protect Yourselves!
Contributed by: +SnipeR+
Just got this from a Security Specialist friend of mine:
"Keep a watch our for people standing near you in the checkout line at retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc who have a camera cell phone in hand, With the camera cell phones, they can take a picture of your credit card, which gives them your name, card number and expiration date. CBS reported this type of identification theft is one of the fastest growing scams today. Be aware of your surroundings."
INFOSEC is a big deal! Protect your personal info! Identity and Credit theft is not a gft you want for the holidays. It happened to me a few years back and it took FOREVER to get straightened out. Happy (and safe) Holidays everyone!

.Mac is Losing its Mind Again...
Contributed by: Shawn
For those of you signed up to the forums via a Mac.com addres, listen up.
I *hate* Mac.com. And this is why.
For no apparent reason, Mac.com is now bouncing emails back to me that should be going to Mac.com subscribers. I am getting *hundreds* of emails saying, "The following addresses had permanent fatal errors" and they are *all* from Mac.com addresses.
So, unfortunately, I am having to delete those subscribers. If you try to sign on and it says you are not subscribed to the forums, you'll have to resubscribe. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
Veteran's Day
Contributed by: arcsine
ABC Veterans Day broadcast of the acclaimed World War II film "Saving Private Ryan."
Sadly...
"Citing concerns about profanity and graphic violence in the film," some stations decided not to air it for fear of 'recent crackdown on indecent material by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission."

First Impressions: iPod Photo
Contributed by: Anonymous
It's amazing how much a difference colour and a slightly higher-resolution screen makes. I used to be cool when I had an iPod, but now I'm at least twice as cool as I was before. That and the fact that I'm one of the first in Australia to have one of these babies! ;-P

Thanks to Kelly B, we now know the iPod socks (probably) aren't a joke. Well, they are but they are a "for sale" joke. :-)
iPod Socks
Review: Griffin EarJams
Contributed by: Shawn
In my opinion, the earbuds that ship with the iPod aren't bad. They sound just fine and they fit pretty well into my ears. They're certainly not high-end gear, but they're not intended to be. For most of the situations where I listen to music — at the gym, working around the house, during a walk, in the car — they're more than adequate.
One thing I've noticed is that when I tilt the buds to point more directly into my ears, the sound improves noticeably, especially bass response. Wouldn't it be nice if someone would build an earbud attachment that would hold the buds in that position? Griffin Technology has, and they're named EarJams.

Apple and Digital Music
Contributed by: Shawn
Apple undoubtedly owns the digital music space right now. They are the industry leader.
It shows a couple of things - the lack of original thinking on the traditional music industry and the "out of the box" thinking of Apple.
But there are clouds on the horizon. Storm clouds? I don't think so. But clouds nonetheless.
Apple has many challenges ahead of it. How they handle them will affect all of us - not just as Mac users but also as music fans.
In this space over the next few days, I'll post some questions I and others think are important for Apple consider.
