The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week
Contributed by: Lesa
On last night's show I talked about how to turn a film negative into a festive photo frame. The trick lies in turning it into a black and white image using the Threshold adjustment. From there it's just a matter of copying and pasting into another image's layer mask.
Widget of the Week goes to Family Guy Random Quote Generator because, well, it's funny :)
I also posted a write-up -- complete with pictures -- on the Discovery Tech Fair with David Pogue.
Until next week, may the creative force be with you :)

On last night's show I talked about how to soften freckles in Photoshop, a technique that can also be used for overall skin softening to create a more romantic feel. I also rewrote the same tutorial in Photoshop Elements, showing you how to take advantage of the secret layer masks lurking within adjustment layers. Hope you enjoy the tutorials!
Widget of the Week goes to BBC Radio because, well, it's BBC Radio. 'Nuff said.
Until next week, may the Photoshop force be with you! And don't forget to go see Serenity this Friday ;)

On last night's show, had there been one, I *would* have talked about how to fix animal white-eye, correcting the animal version of the human red-eye. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!
Widget of the Week goes to dreamDeals. Oy. May Thor help us all on that one. Until next week, may the Photoshop force be with you :)
And come home Shawn and J! Damnit, I miss you guys.

On last night's show I talked about how to retouch eyes and make them super sparkly. It's a really easy, fun little trick using oversharpening that can turn a good photo into a fantastic photo. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!
Widget of the Week goes to Calendar Clock, because it's really, really, pretty :)
Until next week, don't iron naked!

Just got a tip from our friends at Audible UK:
"YML will be available between now and next Wednesday on the Audible UK site."
Gear is Here!
Contributed by: Shawn
Well...some of it is, any way. :)
Your Mac Life has finally started receiving the gear for the new studio - the desk is on its way, book shelves have been ordered and lights are on backorder.
Today, we got the gels and clamps for the lights that will hang from the ceiling and a sweet Sennheiser wireless mic setup that we will be testing in Paris.
Also on order is a digital recorder for podcasting on the fly while in Paris. When we get back from Paris, we will be painting the studio and installing the desk, booms, shelves and lights.
Pics and video to come as soon as it all arrives!
Thanks to all of you who donated to our Desk Fund. Your generosity is what is making this all possible!

On last night's show I talked about how to create a shallow depth of field in Photoshop, and gave away several tips for surviving in the RAM-hogging realm of Photoshop CS2. Hope you enjoy the tutorials!
Widget of the Week goes to AirCompare. A really fast way to check flight prices on various sites.
If you're on the East Coast, be sure to check out the Discovery Science & Space Museum's Tech Fair featuring David Pogue on Sept. 23-25. We've got an awesome line-up of exhibitors and prizes for the Friday night auction. I'd love to see you all there!
Until next week, may the Photoshop force be with you :)
