The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about how to simulate a picture and place an image within another image. In this tutorial I use a tool that you wouldn't expect in order to make a rounded edge selection of the LCD on a digital camera and show you how to pop another picture into it. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Widget of the Week goes to the Macworld Expo 2006 Countdown and the Christmas is Coming Countdown. Useless but fun.

Until next week, may the force be with you :)

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about how to create a color snapshot effect and capture the focal point of an image in color with a polaroid-ish border, and turn the remainder of the photo black and white. This should give folks some creative ideas for holiday photos and iCards. I hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Ware of the Week goes to the highly addictive, free game called Bundle Up.

Until next week, may the force be with you :)

YML Hockey Jerseys!

We've been talking about this for a long time and now, thanks to Francis & Lusky here in Nashville, they go on sale ASAP.

These will be very special, Limited Edition jerseys - they are high quality and hockey ready. You could hit the ice as soon as you put it on!

Your jersey will be one of a kind, complete with your name and chosen number on the back. Even better, when you order your jersey, we will "retire" your number. That's right - *no one* will have another YML jersey just like yours!

Because the numbers are limited to 2 digits (#00 to #98 - #99 is reserved for Wayne Gretzky!) and because some numbers have already been taken (#16 for Sly, #10 for Shawn, #7 for Lesa and #13 for J!), you have to hurry and order soon!

When you order, make sure you include or send us an email with your requested Jersey number, the name you want on the back, your size and your shipping address and telephone number.

BTW, your jersey name can be one word up to 16 letters and will appear in all caps.

Send payment to "[email protected]"

Only $175.00!

To order, send your name, shipping address and size (keep in mind these are hockey jerseys - they are meant to be big!) to "[email protected]". Sizes available are Youth, Ladies, L all the way up to XXXXL.

For those of you who feel more comfortable sending in a check or who don't have PayPal accounts, our mailing address is:

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about creating fabulous fades by using gradient layer masks, hopefully giving everyone ideas for fading blocks of colors into photos or vice-versa. I hope you enjoy the tutorial, and the funny Save Our Turkeys coalition ad I made as an example. I also posted a nifty trick for muting the sound volume beep on your Mac.

Shareware of the Week goes to NightLights Screensaver. Instead of putting up lights this year, decorate your Mac desktop instead.

Happy Turkey Day, everyone! I'm off to Shreveport to go gambling with my Mom in the morning. Is that the siren call of the draw poker machines, I hear?!

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about how to create painted edges in Photoshop Elements, giving folks some creative uses for all the wonderful brushes nestled snuggly inside Elements (and Photoshop too for that matter!). Hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Shareware of the Week goes to Backdrop.

Until next week, may the force be with you :)

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about how changing the resolution of an image affects the document (physical) size of that image. This is part 2 of The Beginner's Guide to Image Editing and illustrates step by step how to resize an image from the web for print. Also, check out the Pick a New Picker tutorial on changing Photoshop's default color picker. I hope you enjoy the tutorials!

Widget of the Week goes to Google Maps. Why? Because it hooks up to your Address Book.

Until next week, don't think of the future... it comes soon enough. (Anybody guess who said that?)

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about my new Beginner's Guide to Image Editing tutorial series, starting with the basics of pixels and resolution. If you have image editing software and don't know where to start, this is for you.

Widget of the Week goes to OnTheAir. Take control of the air waves and find out the last five songs played on over 2500 radio stations in the US. We shall depend on disc jockeys for band and song name no longer!

Until next week, remember "...nothing says 'obey me' like a bloody head on a fence post." :)

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about a recent project of creating funny graphics depicting digital cameras made into unlikely objects, like a belly ring. This project taught me a couple of neat tricks like how to change silver metal to gold, what a difference changing the color of a drop shadow can make for photo realism, and how incredibly vast the database of stock photography is over at istockphoto.com. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Widget of the Week goes to the gloriously Trekkish TNG Calendar.

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about how to get the red out and zap contrary color casts in both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The magic lies in using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Widget of the Week goes to the all powerful Loren Ipsum Widget.

As promised, here lie photos of the Texas Renn Faire. Enjoy!

The Graphic Reporter's Tip of the Week

On last night's show I talked about how to fix cat eyes using the magic wand, and how to color correct using levels. Though I wrote both tutorials in Photoshop Elements, the techniques work in the full-blown version of Photoshop too. Hope you enjoy them!

Widget of the Week goes to Froggster!

Until next week, may the force be with you :)
