Sunday's at the King House (Castle?) are spent catching up on reading. Braves game on "in the background", Sunday papers prepped and ready, weekly mags stacked, coffee made, breakfast eaten.....life is good.....

Some of you know that Your Mac Life has moved into a new studio, thanks to Griffin Technology. One of the issues of the new studio is, besides crappy desks, is bad sound due to the walls not being carpeted or soundproofed.

So I'm surfing around when I see this story.

Yeah, the stuff looks like Shredded Wheat (and probably tastes about the same - remember that stuff as kids? Man - it was disgusting!) and is probably *way* too expensive but I wanted to check it out.

This is where it got annoying.

The vendor apparently is Architectural Elements.. I say "apparently" because it's impossible to actually get into their web site. Go ahead....try it....I'll wait......

"I have written things about Steve Jobs that are far worse than anything in this book, which is in many ways just a refresh of an earlier Jobs biography by Young. Steve hasn't black-listed me. In fact he rather likes his bad-boy image and loves to hear the nasty things that people have said about him.

So what is this all about? As always, I have a theory.

I think this episode with Wiley and Apple's earlier legal attacks on people who it accused of leaking product information are part of a campaign to look tough to movie studios and record companies. As I've surmised before, Apple is trying to put together a high definition movie download service that requires content from all the major movie studios. If Steve looks soft on IP theft or unwilling to flex his corporate legal muscles, the studios may think he won't adequately protect their corporate jewels.

And that's all it is. Steve couldn't care less about this book."

Is "airport security" (and I use that term loosely) getting more and more ridiculous?

Earlier this month, you may have heard that you were no longer allowed to bring any kind of cigarette lighter on board a plane - either in your carry on or checked luggage (does this mean if there's a lighter in your checked luggage, they won't load it? They won't let you on the plane? Or will they open your luggage and just take the lighter out?).

The reason for this policy is just as stupid as the policy. The supposed "Shoe Bomber" of last year tried to light his bomb with a pack of matches. Apparently, the US government feels that he would have been successful if he had had a good old US of A-made Zippo.

So, in their infinte wisdom, they banned cigarette lighters. But, and here's the kicker, you can still bring matches on board....

And what's worse is that the last 4 flights I've taken, I've had a lighter in my pocket and got on board with no problems.

Morons.
