Neither. I expect my machines to run 24/7/365. I log out, but the machine is still doing work.

Err...I have 3 Macs. The one I use the most goes to sleep at night, while the other two get shut down. All 3 get used daily. So I'm not sure which way to vote...

My G5's display goes to sleep and InCrease keeps folding. On my 12"
Powerbook it goes to sleep when I close the lid at night. My Mac Mini at work
gets shut down when I leave cause some idiot sometimes turn the power to my
shaping room off when they leave and that hard shut down would not be good
for the little Mini.

I leave it on and just turn the display off.

Yup, needs a third option, maybe more, I'd say; "distributed computing" and maybe "Other".

Neither..I let it run 24/7.

Since I got a surge protector, I only power down when I have to move the gear,
which isn't often.

My Desktops are always turned off. Unless I"m doing a backup which I let
run when I leave the office. But my powerbook I'm beginning to shutdown,
b/c I used to let it go to sleep but it started running really slow. So now I
just turn it off when I'm not using it. My friends say all I have to do is restart
every now and then but hey I'm a Graphic Designer and I'm not going to
take any chances here. Besides if my PC using friends see that my Mac is
running slow I won't ever hear the end of it. : )

Later,
Jarrod
