I'm normally an early adopter, but when my system was hosed by the
filevault bug in Panther I vowed to wait for the first point release.

HI,

Already have my copy on order.... sort of....

The University has a site license for Mac OS X so for $40 per year per
system, I get a copy of Tiger when the University receives their Master
Disks... which takes about 10 days to 2 weeks after the release... And I can
put it on all 14 of my Mac's.

...$40 for Tiger, what a deal.

Same here for our site license at the big U.
We'll be needing 32. (Think I paid for free upgrades on some, I'm trying to
find paperwork).

Plus whoever buys theirs individually for home
computers 'cause most of us have those.

So far I'm told JACK will not work with Tiger, not yet anyway, so I'll be holding off for bit.

I have pre-ordered it but will not install on my macs until 3 weeks after I
recieve it.

I will trawl the internet for any stories of 'this don't work with it' etc and then
decide when to install.

When I do install it though, I will make a bootable backup of my old system
(10.3.9 - Panther) and then wipe the hd drive and do a totally clean install.

If Tiger works ok with all my apps out of the box I am gonna be soooooo
happy!! - can't with to use dashboard and spotlight!!

If I do buy it, I will wait for at least the .3 or .4 release to get some bugs out
and hopefully allow the printer/scanner drivers to be optimized. There are
some cool and useful features in the list of 200 +, but I'm not sure that I'm
going to get all that much benefit from a 64 bit OS on a 32 bit Mac.

Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity.

I was just about to order through Amazon, when I was given a copy for
evaluation.

Though the widgets, smart folders, RSS, etc., are neat additions (as is the new
Mail look), I'm a bit dissapointed that my QT Pro registration key does not seem
to be valid for QT7 . . .

I bought QT 6 Pro about 2 years ago. It's been out for about 3-4 years (I can't remember exactly). You've got to admit that it's been good value, especially if you bought it when it first came out.

So buck up and buy QT 7 Pro. It will probably be good for at least a couple of years.

I bought it this morning. An I will install it on the 29th. Everything will be
backed up of course, and I will do a clean install.

Pre-ordered it from Amazon by way of YML link of course. Must make certain Shawn/Jay/Lesa get their "pimp fee" of course. :)

I just ordered my first Mac this weekend...an iMac G5, 2 GHz, so Tiger is native to the machine. Even with first release bugs, I'm not too worried since I'm starting from scratch. By the time my new machine arrives around May 20, I would think any critical error fix would be out by then.
