On January 22nd I finally got my family a Mac Mini, our first actual Mac purchase. I await my tax return to (possibly) get my 17" PowerBook!. We're going to be a true Mac family!

My primary Mac is a dual 2GHz G5 with 4GB of RAM and 2x250GB HDs
and a 23" Cinema Display. Also in use here is my old G4 450 with a 1GHz Upgrade from Sonnet, 1.5GB RAM, 2x100GB and 2x250GB internal HDs, which is used primarily as a Retrospect backup server for the G5, the G4, and a 15" Aluminum Powerbook G4. Also laying around here and still working are a PowerMac 7100/80CD, PowerMac 8600/300, an SE/30, Apple IIe, and a Sun Ultra10. What can I say... What is Your Primary Mac?

I use a 1.5GHz 15" PowerBook, but does it count as a desktop if I use it
hooked up to a cinema display with a wireless mouse and keyboard more than I do using it's laptop features? It's great to have the freedom of both options without having my stuff on two computers. What is Your Primary Mac?

As a print and web Graphic Designer, I use a 1GHz Powerbook G4 at the
office and an older 500MHz G4 Desktop in my home studio. --- Mr. Kelly L. Tickner http://www.ticknerdesign.com What is Your Primary Mac?

I’ve been using my dual 1Ghz machine for the last couple of years, and
have been very happy with it. Well I broke down and purchased a new G4 iBook. Looking back now, I wish I would have gotten the 17” Powerbook instead of the desktop. There has been nothing like having my Mac with me at all times. When hanging at Starbucks, it’s cool have people look over my shoulder and admire my laptop. I may sell the desktop some day and get a powerbook. --- They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin What is Your Primary Mac?

Actually tough to say. Went with desktop (dual G5 1.8) simply because all
my graphics and most programming is done on it, not to mention the 23" panel on it! However my 1G TBook is my brain on batteries (dangerous), which I have with me nearly everywhere I go (work, travel, programming, photo uploads). Right now I have both running plus an older OS 9 machine to scan slides from my SCSI scanner (I believe in support the utility companies). What is Your Primary Mac?

An aging but still plenty powerful 800MHz PM G4.
I use my iBook G4 on the go or while sitting on the couch, but most of my time is spent sitting at my desk with the Power Mac. It's actually upgrade time for my desktop Mac now. Added Bluetooth, going to add USB 2.0, replace my keyboard and mouse, and maybe add SATA. I could probably make enough from selling it to pay for most of an iMac G5, but I'm attached. Plus I can't replace the iMac's combo drive with an off-the-shelf DVD burner like I did with my Quicksilver. With any luck, this puppy should last through Tiger's lifetime and quite possibly beyond. I use daily the last of the late great PowerMac G4 towers - a dual 1.25GHz
with 1.75 GB RAM, 1x80 1x160 GB disk, 4x Firewire 400, 2x USB 1.1, 2x USB 2.0, Radeon 9000 video, Apple 20" ADC LCD display. I've had it for about 1 1/2 years and love it! Running 10.3.7, it's rock solid. I am a programmer, and use Apple's X11 to connect to machines at work via ssh tunnels over SBC DSL. I have had the opportunity to upgrade to a G5 but I am so happy with this machine, I am loathe to give up such a nice comfortable computing environment. |

using a 867 powerbook. I've been working on the powerbook more lately
and I've been toying around with the idea of switching over to a
powerbook when the time comes to buy a new computer.
