OK, I'll be the first to put my butt out there and say there's no way Apple will introduce a MacIntel mini at MacWorld SF 2006. They may announce more specific info on what will be initially released, but that's all.

To do otherwise is to break faith with the developers who were told when to have their apps ready for X86 and leave users with Macs that will only run major applications slower under Rosetta. It's not going to happen.

Anyone who believes otherwise is under the spell of stock analysts and rumor websites who either hyping the stock or hyping their own news-gathering credibility.

After the second Tuesday in January, I see Apple stock taking a hit as the analysts and websites frantically trying to cover their asses.

A consumer machine of some kind is possible with iLife apps running on them.
Those are the most important apps for most average consumers. And I'm talking
your basic user here. The Pro machines will come later when most of the other
apps are close to being ready. I don't even know if Final Cut Pro will be ready
when the Pro intel machines are ready. Ask your self, do you really want a Gen 1
intel machine?

I'd like to see new "Mac mini with a small flip up LCD screen". Why?

I use the Mac mini in different locations, with a kybd and mouse, small self
powered speakers in a carry on sports bag. I'm alway looking for a screen.

The screen size is a direct ratio increase of the iPod Video. It's a perfect
physical size and format for watching iPod video if a screen the same size as
the top of the mini was attached. Just flip it up to view. It just lacks a small
pointer/keyboard/mouse device to control DVDs, etc like the new iMac G5.

Not having to look for a Mac mini screen would make it perfect for my uses!!!!

I doubt it. But they may introduce a new Mac mini w/ Intel processor.

Not being a wise-ass, but rather trying to reaffirm that there will (in all likelihood)
be NO re-branding of the Macintosh. The Mac name is here to stay. 68k,
PowerPC, Intel, it doesn't really matter. A Mac is still a Mac.
