Apple Expo in Paris or London MacExpo?

With the unfortunate announcement that there will be no Steve Jobs Keynote at Apple Expo in Paris - in fact, no keynote at all (and what an interesting turn of phrase from the show's organizers - "the decision not to offer a keynote was not taken by (Reed Expositions)"), going to Paris just became a more "interesting" decision.

There's another show Your Mac Life would like to go to - The MacExpo in London.

Your Mac Life has "done" the Paris show for the past 5 years - we've never been to the London show. Granted, the Paris show, Keynote or not, is a more "important" event - it's the biggest Mac Exposition in the world with many products from Apple and others being announced and introduced there.

But one of the hallmarks of Your Mac Life is that we are always looking for stuff that is new and different and, to be quite honest, there's not much new or different we're really going to see in Paris.

Now London - London *would* be "different". While the show itself is nowhere near as large as the Paris show, in theory we speak the language of *every* vendor at the show so we would be able to talk to more potential interview subjects.

Then there's London itself - different city, food, people, atmosphere, pubs, sights, etc. than we've experienced before.

From our point of view, it's a tough call - both shows have their pluses and minuses. Granted, we *could* do both shows but with other things going on, we'd rather not.

That's why we've posted the poll question on the right - where would *you* like us to report from next? Let us know what you think.

London does sound like the more interesting place to go.

With the increased security measures in London, which look set to continue for
the near future, you have to consider the risk to bringing your equipment to
London and having the possibility of sending cameras / laptop's etc in the hold.

Also, while it would be intersesting to do the London show for a change - the
Paris show is considered the European Expo and attracts vendors and visitors
from all over europe, where as the London show is more focused on the british
market.

My vote is the Paris show. I think it will be far more newsworthy than the London
show

I've been to both the Apple Expo in Paris and the MacExpo in London. The Paris show is much larger and hosted in modern facilities with god transport connections. The London show is tiny by comparison and like everything in London the refreshments, hotels and transport is overpriced (and I say this as someone who lives just 90 miles from London). If I were given the option of Paris or London then I'd opt for Paris each time.

Why don't you go to London, and send my wife and I to Paris as correspondents.
We would gladly take the bullet for you and visit the tired city that is Paris. :)

We would of course need new MacBook Pros, and some camera and recording
equipment. Sound like a deal?

LOL And how do you think me sending *your* wife to Paris would go over with
*my* wife? :)
