Always on the lookout for great deals for our listeners, Your Mac Life is very pleased to announce that the Pickwick Hotel will be the “official hotel of YML” (and our new home away from home) during Macworld Conference & Expo 2007 in San Francisco, and we want to invite all of our listeners to join us there this coming January!
While we have enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Courtyard the last couple of years, we turned to our friends at IDG World Expo, who worked their magic once again to ensure that our listeners could receive maximum savings while still being in a great location near the Moscone (just 2 blocks away), as well as the many attractions and shopping areas that make San Francisco such a great city to visit.
Located at 85 5th Street (at Mission) in San Francisco, the Pickwick Hotel is just 2 blocks from the Moscone as well as a block away from the famed cable car turnaround at Powell Street, and much to Sly’s delight, it is also near Bloomingdales and the San Francisco Shopping Centre.
Renovated in the last 3 years, the South of Market (by just 1 block) Pickwick Hotel offers its guests the very best of old-world elegance with today’s modern amenities, including the prerequisite “complimentary high speed internet” for the geek in all of us. And you can have all of this and more for the terrific rate of $139/night (applicable taxes not included).
Macworld Conference & Expo runs from January 8 – 12, 2007, but YML listeners are invited to take advantage of the special rate of $139/night for the dates of January 5th through 13th, just in case you have the opportunity for some R&R before or after Macworld.
Reservations are being accepted now and until December 18, 2006, or unless there is a sellout. The $139/night rate is based on single or double occupancy. Three guests to a room will cost $159 and 4 to a room, $179/night.
To reserve online through Macworld housing, click HERE.
Where indicated at the beginning of the online registration process, please enter the YML access code YML2007 to receive the $139/night rate and for it to count towards the YML block. You can then proceed with your reservation as instructed.
Reservations can also be made by calling toll free from anywhere in the United States at 1-866-704-6724 or 506-432-7726 (for callers outside the US) from 9am - 8pm Eastern time Monday to Friday. Don't forget to advise the reservation agent when making your reservation over the phone of the YML access code YML2007 to be part of the YML block.
Please do not call the hotel directly as these reservations are being coordinated through Macworld Travel & Housing and the hotel will likely not know about this rate or will simply redirect you to the above information. If you really need to check on your reservation, “just in case”, please do so only after January 3, 2007.
Don't hesitate though - December 18th will sneak up on ya before you know it and at $139/night the hotel may even sell out. Should you need to change or cancel your reservation before January, please visit the above reservation link to make your changes online (you’ll need to quote your confirmation number). As well, the Pickwick has a generous cancellation policy - so if you need to cancel your reservation after January 3rd, you can do so without penalty as long as its 72 hours or more prior to your scheduled arrival date. Cancellations received less than 72 hours prior to your arrival date will be charged one night’s room and tax.
Check out the Pickwick Hotel website to find out more information about the hotel. We hope you’ll be convinced to join us this January for what is shaping up to be one of the best Macworld Expos ever!
We're looking forward to meeting as many listeners as we can. Hope to see you there!
Sly
What Else You Need To Know:
* Here's a map to help familiarize yourself with the hotel's location and surroundings.
*Please note that San Francisco hotel guest rooms are going completely non-smoking and in keeping with the Pickwick’s policy of a smoke-free environment, a $250 cleaning fee will be charged for any smoking infractions by guests.
* If you’re a fan of the novel “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammett, you may recall that the Pickwick was specifically mentioned; Hammett even worked briefly as a guard for the Pinkerton Security firm, which was just a block away from the Pickwick before beginning his writing career. Today, guests can experience a touch of the past by enjoying a drink in the Pickwick Hotel's “Falcon’s” Bar. |

| My wife and I are looking forward to staying there and have already made our reservations. First time I ever visited San Francisco, the Pickwick was where I stayed....and one could have called it quaint at the time but I still had fun there. That was 15 years ago and I look forward to see what changes have been made. I can say that its close to "everything"! Great job Sly. |

Macworld #3 for me!
Reservations made Saturday through Saturday. If anyone else is arriving early and wants to do something on Saturday or Sunday post so me (we) know.
We'll have to stake out uncharted territory in the Pickwick lobby or bar for the new YML meeting/hang-out place. I'll make a YML sign.
George? You up for another hike somewhere?
<------That's how our 2 faces looked after climbing up to Telegraph Hill to see the wild parrots last year! But it was worth the hike! Plus we burned off lots of calories ahead of time for all the great dinners we pigged out on all week. |

That's awesome Patti, and to everyone who has booked so far, thanks so much; we really appreciate it! I think we're gonna get another good group of folks together this January, and we're looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
Not sure yet if I'll arrive on the Saturday or Sunday yet but I'll be staying until the following Sunday. I lke coming in on the Saturday just so I can explore a little and get some initial quality shopping time in, so we'll see.

Woohoo - time to start getting psyched! Got hotel and flight booked...doing the long haul this year...Saturday to Sunday. Thanks for all your hard work on the hotel arrangements, Sly. To echo the sentiment - looking forward to seeing old friends and familiar faces again, and meeting new ones, too. Anyone up for dim sum?
Now the trick is to avoid getting sick *before* Expo this time. |
