....."To the East Side...."

Of the continent.

For those of you who listened to Wednesday's show, you already know. For those of you who didn't hear the Big News, here it is....

Your Mac Life and the King Family are moving to Connecticut!

This is both good news and bad news. For the most part, everything remains the same with regards to the Your Mac Life show. The biggest change that will be noticed as soon as the move is completed is that Your Mac Life will lose the presence of J Curtis.

Obviously, J has a wife, a new home and a new job and he won't be making the move to CT with Lesa and I. As much as we'd like to have the Curtis' join us, that's not possible.

Of all the things we will miss about Nashville, J is the most important. He has been an invaluable resource and help to Your Mac Life and added a dimension to the broadcasts, both with his technical knowledge and expertise but also with his humor, intelligence, occasional silliness and general force of personality.

On a personal note, J has been a great friend to both of us over the years and will continue to be. We will miss him and his lovely wife Sheila greatly.

Obviously, we will miss our other friends on Nashville too - none more so than Paul Griffin who is responsible for bringing me to Nashville 6 years ago. Paul has not only been a supporter of Your Mac Life for all these years but also been a good friend. We will miss him.

So - why are we moving if we like it so much in Nashville?

Some of you know that, along with everything else Lesa does, she's also the assistant to David Pogue, Technology Columnist for the New York Times. David is busier and busier all the time and needs Lesa to work more closely with him. The easiest way to do that would be to move closer to David.

David has also asked me to come on board the Pogue Machine to help him out with various technical and behind the scenes aspects of the things he does.

CT is beautiful - we were up there all last week and had a lot of fun exploring. It will be even more fun to explore those roads on our motorcycles!

CT has several other advantages - close to New York City (I've always wanted to live *near* NYC but not in it ), very close to the ocean, real live snow (while Lesa can't wait to see "real snow", I give her about 3 weeks of it before she's really tired of it ) and access to a lot of people that can help both Lesa and I further our careers.

Needless to say, we are both *very* excited and *very* scared but looking forward to this new adventure! Let us know what you think and if there are things, places, events, roads, restaurants, towns...anything!...you think we should check out in the New England area.

Sounds great... how will the show change? I will really miss hearing J on the show... can't he do segments on the show like Sly?

I am assuming that you won't have the video part anymore since that was done by J, right?

Will you record in another studio or out of the house? (I assume that is the house you are moving to... very nice).

What kind of work will you be doing with David Pogue?

Good luck in you new digs?

As the story above says, "For the most part, everything remains the same with regards to the Your Mac Life show."

So will I.

Possibly but it won't be the same.

No - we'll still do the video.

Studio in the house.

It is and thanks! The pics don't do the new place justice - it's *much* nicer.

I'll be his behind the scenes Tech Guy.

So.... with you two much closer to Philly can we expect that Shawn and Lesa will be stopping by the CCPMUG at some point in the future? Cheesesteaks are on me!

Sorry to hear J won't be on no more.
What about the new desk? Is that moving too, or staying in Nashville? If the desk stays, perhaps J can start his own separate show.
Hopefully J will still be joining you at MacWorld, or other events. His knowledge, personality and voice/s will be missed. Maybe you guys could do entire shows with the Skype thing, or video iChat or something

Any chance of "Weird" Dave Pog becoming a regular? You'll also be closer to Boston, where I believe Peter Cohen and Andy Inhatko reside.

I for one am excited at this (yet another) relaunch of YML.
Best of luck to you both on the move

All the gear is coming with us to CT.

LOL If J wants to start his own show, he doesn't need a new desk to do it on.

Pogue is *way* too busy.

Yup - and they'll be on the show just as much as they are now.

The move to Connecticut is great.

However, you have to keep Jay involved with the show somehow. I still remember when J showed up to the studio with beer and other goodies for Shawn, then got asked to sit in. I also remember the days with Kelly (but that's the last I'll mention of that).

All you need when you go to connecticut is that you have to have a damn good internet connection so you can have Jay on Skype. Also, my wife love Jay and you wouldn't want to deprive a woman of that which she desires. Plus Jay is Shawn's perfect foil, the ying to the yang. Plus, I don't see Shawn doing all those accents and impressions.

Even if Jay is there once in a while, I'll still listen to YML, I listened when Shawn did the show solo.

Congratulations on your move, but the real fun will be watching Lesa the southern bell be subplanted in the north. Therefore, you'll have to do a new show called "Your North Life". Lesa's struggle to drop her "r's", call soda: tonic, and push a carrage in the supermarket instead of a cart.

Again, Congrats!!

ROFL!!!

And I think it'd be great to have J on via Skype. I mean, if Leo and his buddies can do it on TWiT, surely YML can do it too

Please, let's not mention Kelly. I think we all had just about enough of her and we're glad that she's gone. Her mark still scars this show and the lives of those who are part of it. The less said, the better.

Next time you're in town you can just call the Howard Johnson. No, wait, I guess you won't be in town anymore after this, will you?

Probably not. I've only used you for my own convenience. Now that I can no longer ride Shawn King's coat tails to fame so conveniently, I have no use for you, your services, or Nashville in general.

LOL I Agree.

If she does any of that, her "r's" won't be the only thing that gets dropped.

I love my Southern Belle wife just the way she is - I don't want her to change into a CT Wife.

On the other hand...she's already trying to civilize me to CT norms....

Well if that is truely the case and there will be no more guest spots on the show for you, I would say that the move could do nothing but improve the quality and content of the show.
